Ali Buhaji

Head of the Asset Management Team in Masdar Clean Energy, General Manager and Board Director, Baynouna

In his capacity as seconded General Manager and Board Director of Baynouna Solar Energy Company and Head of the Asset Management Team in Masdar Clean Energy, Ali Buhaji brings to the GM role more than 12 years of experience in engineering, technology transfer, projects management, risk management, business and financing, commercial negotiation and business development. He is passed the level 1 Chartered Financial Analyst exams in 2015.

Baynouna Solar Energy Company is delivering Jordan’s largest solar farm which will help the country in fulfilling part of its daily demands and supplying 160,000 homes with clean energy electricity.

In addition to his Baynouna and Masdar roles, Mr. Buhaji serves on the following Masdar-related boards:

 

Baynouna Solar Energy Company (Baynouna).

Jordan Wind PJC (Tafila Wind).

 

Having worked in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia, Mr. Buhaji has a strong international and multicultural experience and thrives on working in diverse geographies and marketplaces.

 

He is a business development executive with a strategic mind-set and a commercial outlook, having developed his skills across a variety of sectors, including renewable energy, oil and gas, technology transfer, and commercialization.

 

Prior to joining Masdar, Mr. Buhaji served as Senior Manager of technology commercialization program for Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee subcommittee of Abu Dhabi Executive Council from 2013 to 2014 and was responsible for advising the board on the potential commercialization technologies within the UAE, developing commercialization strategy, including the development and promotion of innovation eco-system within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

 

Mr. Buhaji was the regional Project Manager for Rolls Royce (energy division) from 2011 to 2013. He managed complex projects and risk management of the company’s international installation and commissioning activities in the oil and gas sector throughout the Middle East and Central Asia regions. Mr. Buhaji is married and has two children.
